Krabill Pleased With Denver Performance

ANAHEIM, CA — Kris Krabill, car owner Gary Turner, and tuner Cory Lee are pleased with their performance at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. The NAPA Auto Parts Night of Fire and Thunder was threatened by cold temps and scattered showers, but the show went off without a hitch. Kris was impressed with the crowd, as an estimated 25,000 (plus) fans braved the evening chill. Bandimere partnered with local schools in promoting a reading program for kids with tickets as a benefit. They all were treated to a four-car, round-robin-style show with Nostalgia Funny Cars and AA/Fuel Dragsters headlining an action-packed program.

Kris explained, “In our first round, we were paired with Dale Pulde’s ‘War Eagle’ and it was cool to be in the next lane with such a respected veteran.” Cory Lee tuned the Pedaler to a fine 6.31-second; 235mph pass to take the win light. Afterwards Turner’s crew was pleased to see there was no engine damage, as they seem to have their early-season breakage gremlins behind them.

The evening’s final pairing found Kris up against Jack Harris’ car from Utah, which got the best of Krabill in a close 6.12 to 6.17 contest. Krabill noted, “I short-shifted, but maybe I should have stayed with it a little longer. We have no regrets, as we put on a great show for the fans. They gave us a warm welcome and showed us how much they love Funny Cars.” Next, the Pedaler crew heads to Cordova, Illinois, in late June. Follow Pedaler Racing on Facebook. Krabill Cranks Big Speed at Sacto

ANAHEIM, CA — Kris Krabill ran impressive speed numbers during the Funny Car Fever show at Sacramento Raceway last weekend. On Friday, the Cory Lee-tuned “Pedaler” posted an effortless 5.86-second pass at 250mph. On Saturday, Kris put the pretty Plymouth Arrow through its paces recording a nice 5.82 at 253.52, which was good for the number-two spot. Round one of eliminations saw Krabill thunder to a 5.81 at an even faster 254.90mph charge. When asked about the car’s speed and consistency, Kris noted, “We’ve had plenty of confidence in our tune-up all along, we just caught some bad breaks at Bakersfield.” Krabill is one of the elite few to run over 250mph in Nostalgia Funny Car.

The Pedaler crew went through their normal service routine and prepped the car for round two. As it turned out, their opponent wasn’t able to make the call, so Kris sailed through on a bye run when things went bad. A broken intake valve caused the supercharger to backfire, followed by a large conflagration. Krabill added, “I wasn’t sure if I’d need to hit the fire bottles until I saw the flames coming up around the injector. I got it stopped okay, but we still suffered plenty of damage.” The body was salvageable, but the air and fuel lines were toast, along with the wiring.

Cory Lee and Gary Turner led the crew through all the repairs, but they came up just minutes short of the final round call. The fans could hear the Pedaler being test-fired in the pits just before Mark Sanders was signaled to crank up his “Mr. Excitement” Nova for a victorious single. On May 15, the Pedaler travels to Denver, Colorado, for a booked-in match race.
